I saw this amazing tip on Pinterest and I immediately contacted a family member of mine to verify if it is true or not... It is!! How is this the first time I am hearing about this?? Ugh! Target is practically my home away from home. Target has been making a fool out of me and my couponing addiction for way too long and I refuse to let them keep on doing it! There is a method Target's clearance, sale and "regularly" priced ticketed items and here it is. First, let me quote my family member who advised me to contact my local store to verify the markdown schedule for the stores in our area as they can differ in different regions.
Let's break it down...
Clearance Tags
- Bottom right-hand corner- current sale price
- Bottom left-hand corner- original price
- Top right-hand corner- percentage off
Regular Priced Items
Food, Electronics and Furniture rarely drop more than 15% but occassionally you will find them marked as low as 90% off at the end of a season.
- If the price ends in an "8" it may drop to a lower price.
- If the price ends in a "4" it will not drop any lower
Toys are usually marked lowest during January, July & August
Holiday merchandise markdown schedule is as follows:
Days 1-3 after holiday = 50% off
Days 4-6 after holiday = 75% off
Days 7-8 after holiday = 90% off (that's usually the crap nobody wants)
General Markdown Schedule:
Monday: Children's clothing, baby items, electronics, and office supplies/gift wrap/stationary.
Tuesday: Women's clothing, home decor and domestic items
Wednesday: Men's clothing, toys, food, health and beauty, garden items
Thursday: Housewares, lingerie, shoes, sporting goods, luggage
Friday: Cosmetics, jewelry, hardware, automotive, and home improvement
Here's another great tip... The mark things down in tiers 2 weeks in advance.
For example, if you go in on a Tuesday and find something in home decor marked down 50%, go in 2 weeks later on a Tuesday and you will most likely see if marked down 75% ! Whhhhaaaatttt???!! With my luck they won't have anything good left!
As always...Use your
RED CARD!!! I saved $250 last year just from using my Red Card (debit)!!
